An apartment drinking-water upgrade

For under-sink reverse osmosis, take a photo of the entire open cupboard rather than just the tap. The installer needs to understand the sink bowl, existing plumbing, available storage and potential drinking-tap position. Include any pull-out bins or drawer runners that must remain usable. Ask where replacement filters will be accessed and what the proposed unit requires for drainage or power.

A building-wide decision is different

Whole-home filtration needs an appropriate connection to the supply serving your home. In a building with shared pipework or shared hot water, a system for one apartment cannot be assumed to serve the entire building. Discuss the supply arrangement with the building manager and obtain any approvals needed for the proposed work.

Plan the visit so it can be productive

Share lift or loading arrangements, booking restrictions and access instructions when arranging the assessment. For a detached home, include the proposed outdoor equipment position instead. Heat pump suitability depends on the actual hot water arrangement and installation space; an individual replacement is not automatically an option for a property using a central plant.

Have these ready for your enquiry

Does an under-sink filter mean I can skip strata approval?

Do not assume so. Check your scheme’s requirements for the work proposed. Benchtop alterations, plumbing changes and common property can affect what approvals are needed.
