Planning guide · Coordinate filtration and hot water with the order of your renovation.
Decide the drinking-tap location early
If a benchtop is being replaced, raise the RO drinking-tap position before fabrication. Share cabinet drawings showing drawers, bins and the sink bowl. The chosen system’s dimensions and service space should be checked against the final kitchen plan, not an empty room. If the kitchen will stay as it is, start with clear photos instead.
Keep outdoor access in the final design
Where new paving, fencing or landscaping is planned, identify the proposed filter and hot water locations before work closes off access. Ask about future servicing and replacement routes. A position that is easy to reach during a renovation may become difficult once a gate, deck or garden bed is finished.
Separate decisions from assumptions
For a new build or a major change, do not assume a replacement incentive applies. Existing equipment and program rules can affect eligibility. Likewise, do not assume every water line serves drinking outlets if the property has separately connected supplies. Ask for the intended treatment boundary and the responsibilities of each trade to be written into the scope.
Have these ready for your enquiry
- Kitchen and outdoor plans, if available
- The sequence of planned renovation work
- New installation versus replacement details
Can I plan an RO unit before the kitchen is finished?
Yes. Early layout discussions can identify space and tap requirements. The exact model and final dimensions should be confirmed before cabinet or benchtop decisions rely on them.
